Meet Mira Juhaimi - Malaysia

Our islands are still not as touristy as others in the region... they are less polluted and still very much preserved in their natural condition.

What led you to becoming a leader?

The desire to show Malaysia to the world! To play at least a very small part in getting the outside world to experience the essence of this land.

Is there one ‘real life experience’ that stands out for you?

In one of our homestays, there was a wedding feast being held. Each member of my group participated in preparing the feast, setting up tents, arranging tables and and even the karaoke machine. I had never experienced something like this either, as I live in a city!

What is your favourite travel destination and why?

The islands of Malaysia. I love the sun, sand and sea. Our islands are still not as touristy as others in the region, hence they are less polluted and still very much preserved in their natural condition.

What tip would you give to someone who’s seeking ‘real life Experience’ while travelling?

Go on roads less travelled. Don't be scared to join in. Respond, respect and relax!

If I were hungry in your region, where would you take me to eat?

A small local restaurant in my hometown where they serve the best Char Koay Teow and Penang Laksa.
