Why Group Travel
Day-to-day adventures - follow the road less travelled
Intrepid travellers have a few things in common. We yearn for the adventure of the unknown and the romance of the road less travelled. We search for the essence of a place as we head off the beaten track and through hidden corners of cities and towns.
The idea is that Intrepid's small group tours incorporate the best of both worlds: see the iconic sights, as well as the hole-in-the-wall haunts. It's sort of like independent travel - with a parachute.
Of course, we don't miss out on the show-stopping landmarks for the sake of avoiding the crowds. But instead of disembarking from a tour bus en masse, we take a local bus, train or even a boat. And when we disperse from the crowds, we like to tread lightly through the backstreets. Exploring the labyrinthine, cobblestoned lanes, rues and stradas where real life happens. Meeting real people.
Intrepid's group sizes are small enough that we aren't intimidating. We can dart down a sidestreet, through a curtained doorway, under the archways of bright washing lines and emerge at the concealed entrance to a tiny chapel. And if the wind changes direction, we can go with it. But with the support of a small group, you'll be able to ditch the dog-eared travel guide and venture into places you would otherwise never see. You'll also leave behind the stress of arranging transfers, buses and hotels - we've already taken care of it. All you have to do is kick back and soak up the experience.
Within a small group of like-minded travellers, you'll visit places and meet people that contribute to life-changing experiences. And at the end of the adventure, it's rare to come away with anything less than lifelong friends.
Private groups - tailor-made adventures
Have you ever sat around the campfire with friends or family and dreamt of taking your adventure further afield? Or visited the same place on your Christmas holidays for 10 summers in a row, and wish you could go somewhere more exotic?
If your friends or family share a thirst for adventure, you can create a group trip with Intrepid. For groups of 8 or more people we can organise a private departure of one of our amazing adventures, or tailor make an Intrepid itinerary based on the special interests or needs of your group.
