Family - Thai Community Encounter Itinerary

Soak up the city’s heady mix of mystical temples, buzzing markets and fascinating Grand Palace. Cruise along its maze of canals and cool down by the hotel pool after a full day’s exploring. Board the overnight train to Surat Thani for an authentic Thai travelling experience.

Swap the urban jungle for a real one. Immerse the family in the spectacular rainforest delights of Khao Sok National Park and go on jungle walks through the ancient evergreen canopy. Look out for some of the park’s rare animal species, including leopard, bear and perhaps even tiger. If travelling during rainy season, why not take advantage of the weather to go inner tubing down the river.

Stay with a host family in a traditional village along the beautiful Andaman coast. Discover how life changed for the villagers after the tsunami of 2004 and learn about their local customs. Encourage the family to throw themselves into activities such as English lessons, fishing, weaving palm roofs and interacting with the local children.

Bid new friends farewell and take the ferry across to Koh Phangan. Get a taste for the tropical island lifestyle with free time to laze along idyllic white-sand beaches, swim in the warm waters and perhaps even head out snorkelling to investigate the fantastic underwater world.

Take another ferry, this time to the picture-perfect Koh Samui. Meet the friendly islanders and relax on its exotic beaches lined with coconut trees. Maybe build up an appetite by exploring the nearby islands of Ang Thong National Park by sea kayak or heading inland in search of dramatic waterfalls.

Spend a final day in the Thai capital. Drool over the incredible display of street food, watch the tuk-tuks rattle through the busy streets and perhaps even visit the famous night markets for some last-minute souvenirs before heading home.
