Essential Thailand Itinerary

Get acquainted with Bangkok, Thailand's steamy capital on an orientation walking tour. In free time, amble through Bangkok's Grand Palace, admire the enormous gilded Buddha at Wat Pho or spend the day grazing through the many street food stalls. Alternatively, take a tuk-tuk through Bangkok's tangle of busy streets.

Thailand's beloved northern capital, Chiang Mai, is filled with peaceful temples, exotic markets and a diverse range of tasty dining options. Perhaps uncover the secrets of Thai cuisine at a cooking class, go temple-hopping within the city's moat boundaries, bliss out with a massage or catch the sunset from Doi Suthep. A visit to the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is a must, but be sure to bargain hard!

Trekking through Thailand's rugged hills is the absolute highlight of any northern adventure. The hilltribes who occupy this region each have their own unique language, traditions and dress. Hike between lush rice paddies and along shady tracks to remote villages, enjoying the hospitality these tribes are famous for. Sleep in authentic bush huts, mingle with the tribespeople and really gain an appreciation of the way of life in this area.

Head back to Chiang Mai for a final spot of shopping, or a relaxing Thai massage, before boarding an overnight sleeper train to Bangkok.

The adventure comes full circle in Bangkok. If time permits, why not stay a bit longer and pay a visit to the legendary floating market, lively Chinatown or one of the modern shopping centres.
