Day 1 Bangkok
Make the most of a day in bewitching Bangkok city, a place full of skyscrapers, temples, chaos and calm. Nestled on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok is a frenetic fusion of tradition and modern. Perhaps visit the towering Turquoise Buddha at Bangkok's Grand Palace or cruise around the city in a tuk-tuk.

Days 5-7 Chiang Mai
Rise early to offer alms to the monks before travelling to Chiang Mai, via relaxing thermal hot springs. Situated at the crossroads of one of South East Asia's most important trade routes, Thailand's northern capital is a legendary centre of ancient culture, adventure, relaxation and shopping. Bike between gold-gilded temples, enjoy a cooking class, take a river tour aboard a bamboo raft or hone haggling skills at the markets.

Days 8-9 Bangkok
Fast-paced and fascinating, Bangkok's chaotic streets are a traveller's delight. Head out to Wat Arun to visit the 'Temple of the Dawn' and see its ornate Khmer-style tower. Then climb aboard a southbound overnight train.

Days 12-13 Ko Tao
Soak up the best of beach life on the white sandy shores of Ko Tao. Diving is the order of the day for many visitors to Ko Tao but snorkelling over the colourful reefs is equally as impressive. There's also plenty of time to simply relax on the beach under swaying coconut palms.

Days 14-16 Ko Samui
Travel across to Ko Samui and enjoy long white beaches, ancient temples and cooling waterfalls - but this time with the addition of a lively nightlife. Take a day tour to Thailand's largest national marine park, home to the beautiful Emerald Lake, or choose to head out on a sea-kayak trip. If that seems like too much hard work, just kick back with a cocktail on one of Ko Samui's beaches.
