Day 1 Chiang Mai/Doi Mae Salong
Set off from Chiang Mai towards the infamous Golden Triangle, and stop en route to watch majestic elephants being bathed by their mahoots at an elephant camp set amidst the jungle. Visit the renowned Chiang Dao, a set of five interconnected caves that are thought to span more than 12 km into Doi Chiang Dao mountain, before ending the day in the remote community of Doi Mae Salong. Perhaps spend the afternoon wandering the markets to unearth treasures crafted by local hilltribes, or settle in at a traditional tea house to sip tea and absorb superb views of the nearby mountains.

Day 2 Golden Triangle
Stop off at the border of Thailand and Burma and take some time to explore the local markets at Mae Sai - the northernmost town in Thailand. Then, head to the point where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Burma meet - famously known as the Golden Triangle. Hear the stories behind a place that was once the Opium producing capital of the world and pay a visit to the Opium Hall to learn about the complex history of this region. Finish the day with a boat ride down the Khong River.

Day 3 Chiang Mai
Admire the stunning Wat Rong Kun (white temple) in Chiang Rai before heading to the quirky Mae Ka Chan hot springs. Soak tired muscles in the pools, and perhaps munch on quail eggs cooked in the warm waters. Head back into Chiang Mai for the end of this short, action-packed-break.
