Day 1 Nairobi
Get ready for an animal-spotting adventure through Africa. If arriving early, Kenya's renowned National Museum is a popular place to visit in Nairobi.

Day 2 Lake Nakuru
See a pink-feathered sea of flamingos and try to spot rhinos on a game drive through Nakuru park. Meet local children at the Saidia Children's Home Project

Days 3-4 Eldoret/Kampala
After an early morning game drive, cross the border into Uganda and camp near the city of Kampala.

Days 5-6 Kibale Forest National Park
This equatorial rainforest in Kibale Forest National Park is home to the highest concentration of primates in the world, the ideal place to go chimp spotting. Enjoy a walking safari and watch the resident chimpanzees squabbling and playing. Wander through the surrounding tea plantations to visit villages or simply kick back at camp in the grounds of an old colonial bungalow.

Day 7 Queen Elizabeth National Park
Set between the Edward and George lakes in the Great Rift Valley, the Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to a wide array of wildlife. Embark on a safari tour to try to spot elephants, lions, buffaloes and antelopes. Cruise the Kazinga Channel where pelicans and eagles soar and hippos wallow.

Day 8 Lake Bunyonyi
Perhaps hire a traditional dugout canoe and glide across Lake Bunyonyi to enjoy the amazing scenery, which is some of the most picturesque in Uganda.

Days 9-11 Gorilla Trek
Make tracks across the border into Rwanda and set up camp at Ruhengeri, gateway to the gorilla trekking region. Accompanied by a local guide and trackers, hike through rugged terrain to come face-to-face with rare mountain gorillas - the sight of these gentle mountain giants is unforgettable. Head out on rainforest hikes to glimpse some of the forest's other inhabitants and pay a visit to the moving Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Day 12 Lake Mburo
Travel back into Uganda and on to Lake Mburo, home to the giant eland antelope. Discover plenty of other magnificent animals on while exploring this secluded park, which sits alongside Mburo.

Days 13-14 Jinja
Stop at the equator en route to the place thrillseekers flock to in Uganda. Jinja is both a scenic riverside retreat and the perfect place to try a few adventurous activities like rafting down the River Nile.

Days 15-16 Eldoret/Nairobi
Pass through Eldoret on the way back to the busy streets of Nairobi, where this epic African tour gears up for the next leg.

Travel to Arusha before setting up camp in a Tanzanian village. Spend the next morning exploring this fascinating area in free time.

Journey down to the floor of Ngorongoro Crater to spot rhinos, elephants and zebras before heading out across the Serengeti plains.

Walk around Mto Wa Mbu village and discover it's delightful and thriving market.

Days 23-25 Zanzibar
Experience the tantalising scents of exotic spice plantations and witness ornate architecture and beachside sunsets in Zanzibar.

Jump aboard a ferry back to the mainland and return to Dar es Salaam's beachside camp.

Days 31-32 Chipata/Lusaka
Soak up the cafe culture in Lilongwe city, the capital of Malawi, before enjoying a change of pace in a tiny Zimbabwean village.

Wander around the galleries and museums in Harare and learn more about the city's culture.

Peruse the many markets in the city of Bulawayo before venturing out into Matobo National Park in search of rare rhinos.

Hwange National Park has been transformed from royal hunting grounds into a wildlife sanctuary and is home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa.

Be awestruck by the power of Victoria Falls and witness the curtain of water thundering into the narrow gorge below.

Days 41-42 Chobe National Park
Enjoy exciting game drives in Botswana's Chobe National Park and cruise along the Chobe River on the lookout for wallowing hippos and soaring fish eagles.

Travel into Namibia and perhaps play soccer with the locals or choose to relax with a boat trip.

Days 44-45 Okavango Delta
Discover the watery wildlife haven of Okavango Delta by mokoro, a dugout canoe poled along by a local guide. Set up camp on a lush, remote island and fall asleep to the nocturnal music of the delta.

Days 46-47 Bagani Community Camp/Rundu
The African adventure continues back to Bagani before travelling to Rundu, where lush campsite spoils await.

Meet the San Bushmen of the Kalahari and observe their age-old traditions on a desert tracking and gathering trip.
