Sri Lanka Family - Elephant Paradise Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Seeduwa

Welcome to this Sri Lankan family adventure! Take your time settling into the hotel, perhaps taking a dip in the pool before meeting everyone.

Days 2-3 Dambulla

A big town near the centre of the island, Dambulla is a great base to explore the wide array of natural wonders and historic sites in this fascinating area.

Day 4 Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa was the ancient capital of the Indian Chola Dynasty and its 1000-year-old remains feature beautiful palaces, temples, stupas and massive stone Buddhas.

Days 5-6 Kandy

Sri Lanka's culture capital, Kandy is a pleasant city surrounded by lush green countryside - it's home to a picturesque lake, old shops, a bustling market and some great restaurants.

Day 7 Kitulgala

Located in thick forest on the Kelani River, Kitulgala is rapidly becoming something of an adventure centre and is a great place for water-based activities and spectacular walks.

Days 8-9 Nuwara Eliya/Bandarawela

Nestled in Sri Lanka's enchanting hill country, Nuwara Eliya was favoured by the British colonialists, both for its temperate climate and the fine tea which is produced in the region.

Day 10 Bandarawela

Another hill town once popular with British plantation managers, Bandarawela sits amidst picturesque vegetable gardens in the cool, green highlands.

Day 11 Uda Walawe National Park

Uda Walawe National Park is home to an amazing array of animal and birdlife - herds of wild elephant are more numerous here than anywhere else in Sri Lanka.

Days 12-13 Beach

One of Sri Lanka's many beautiful beaches, Tangalle has a long stretch of palm-fringed white sand, lapped by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Days 14-15 Seeduwa

Journey north back up the coast and walk along the walls and narrow streets of Galle Dutch Fort. Travel on to the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery which was set up to help protect Sri Lanka’s turtles against the threat of extinction. After such an action and animal-packed holiday, why not spend the final night swapping memories with the family’s new-found friends.
