Sri Lanka Family Discovery Itinerary

Welcome to Sri Lanka, an island paradise that is bursting with incredible sites and sounds. Begin by shaking off the jet lag in Dambulla before heading to the impossible, incredible and altogether breathtaking Sigiriya rock fortress. Climb the twisting staircase to the top of this stunning piece of ancient engineering and gaze across the jungle before heading out on a wildlife spotting expedition in Minneriya National Park.

Rise early and make tracks for Hiriwadunna, the start of a 3-hour trek to archetypical Sri Lankan villages. While walking alongside a reservoir, watch as daily life begins on the water and be sure to keep an eye out for beautiful birdlife and butterflies. For a change of pace, hop on a bullock and cart for a ride through dense forest. Arrive at the beach resort of Trincomalee in the evening and spend the following day enjoying free time.

Cruise to Kandy and stop by Matale to visit the Alu Vihare Temple. Take some time to enjoy this bustling hill town and perhaps catch a stunning sunset over the surrounding mountains.

Enjoy scenic views of tea plantations en route to Kitulgala and take a tour of a tea factory for an insight into this booming industry. After lunch at a colonial hotel, enjoy a memorable dugout canoe ride on the Kelani River.

Head for Negombo, where there is plenty of time to explore and perhaps toast the end of the adventure with a farewell group dinner.
