Day 1 Madrid

Embrace the Madrileno spirit of living the good life by hitting the many museums, restaurants, shopping strips and bars of Madrid. Stroll along the Paseo del Arte (Art Walk) to view some of the finest collections of art in the world, including works by Picasso and Dali. Arriving a few days early is a must for those that want to properly experience all that this captivating city has to offer.

Days 2-3 Granada

Bask amid the grand rooms, towering domes, glorious gardens, perfectly proportioned courtyards and ornate fountains of Alhambra Palace in Granada. During free time, roam through Granada's alluring Arab Quarter, Albayzin, where the charm of spacious plazas, whitewashed houses and labyrinthine streets is enhanced by sweeping views of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

Days 4-5 Seville

Experience the electric atmosphere of an authentic flamenco performance in Seville, and witness the collision of music, dance, passion and drama. At night, make the most of Seville's reputation as the tapas capital of Spain by munching through as many mouth-watering dishes as possible.

Days 6-7 Algarve

Travel by bus across fertile plains dotted with olive groves, orange orchards and maize fields to reach the Algarve, mainland Portugal’s stunning southern coastal region. Explore the picturesque marina at Faro, hit one of the number of beaches the area is famed for, or dawdle among historical buildings that date back to Moorish times. At night, feast on freshly caught fish at a restaurant or cafe overlooking the water and behold a golden sky at sunset.

Days 8-9 Lisbon

Get acquainted with Portugal’s dynamic capital on an orientation walk. Visit the medieval citadel perched atop a hill for an incredible view of Lisbon’s attractive cityscape – white houses, terracotta rooftops and deep blue ocean. By day, wander tree-lined streets, admire gothic cathedrals and marvel at ancient and contemporary works of art in museums. By night, sip wine and people watch in Bairro Alto - the heart of Lisbon’s bar and restaurant scene - while listening to the sounds of jazz and fado (traditional Portuguese music).

Days 10-11 Porto

Indulge in a port tasting in Porto, the namesake of the sweet fortified wine. If sampling the best from the region piques curiosity, why not learn more about the history of wine and port making at the Museu do Vinho. Alternatively, wile away the afternoon by meandering through the collection of twisting alleys, criss-crossing staircases and baroque churches that make up the World Heritage-listed Ribeira district.

Days 12-13 Santiago de Compostela

Be surrounded by piety in Santiago de Compostela. See weary pilgrims finishing the famous Camino de Santiago walk, and soak up religious fervour in the cathedral where St James, one of the 12 Apostles, is purportedly buried.

Days 14-15 Barcelona

Encounter progressive art, superb dining and thumping nightlife in Barcelona. Visit Gaudi's bizarre La Sagrada Familia Cathedral on an orientation walk. Perhaps get up-to-date with the latest European fashions, wander the leafy pedestrian boulevard or experience some culture at the Picasso Museum.

Day 16 Pamplona

Get acquainted with Pamplona on a walking tour, learning how the town has served as both a military stronghold and an important point on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail for centuries. Meander down winding alleys and step inside ornate buildings such as Pamplona's Gothic cathedral - one of the most important religious structures in Spain.

Days 17-18 Logrono

Head to Logrono in the far north of Spain, well known for its delicious Rioja wine. Drop by the wine museum to learn more about this area's famous tipple. Take the time to visit the cathedral, mosey along the river or go tapas bar-hopping.

Days 19-20 San Sebastian

Travel to San Sebastian and relish the cool breezes coming off the Bay of Biscay. Experience firsthand why San Sebastian is the perfect place for sun, fun and relaxation with its beautiful Old Town, lively beach scene and plethora of pintxos bars. Take in sublime coastal views on the Monte Igueldo cable car or visit Frank Gehry's architectural masterpiece, the Guggenheim, located a short distance away in Bilbao.

Days 21-22 Madrid

Arrive in magical Madrid, a city overflowing with world-class art galleries, atmospheric city squares, manicured parks and gardens, and heaving nightclubs and bars. Make time to celebrate the end of this north Spain adventure by trawling through several of the city’s distinctive neighbourhoods and museums. Try tapas, sample some local wine and quickly discover why Madrid is one the most loved cities in Spain.
