Discover a world of ancient wonder and mystic legend on this cycling tour through rural Peru, which will take you on an adventure through the rolling hills just outside the Peruvian capital of Lima. This Lima day tour shows you a different side to the region and gives you insights into the lives of those living just outside the bustling capital. Rural Peruvian life, here we come!
You’ll rise early to meet your guide and be transported to a town nestled in the valley of the Lurin River. After a brief but thorough bike safety talk, you’ll set off and ride along the rural roads and valleys of southern Lima. Enjoy cycling along an ancient trail that dates all the way back to pre-Inca times, roads that are still used by local farmers and hikers. This trail passes rustic haciendas, farms, and ruins, and along the way your local guide will tell you stories about the area and local rural life.
Next on this Pachacamac bike tour you’ll take to the dirt paths and up into the hills for a bit of off-road mountain adventuring. Here you’ll stop at look out points and take in the mind-blowing views of the surrounding mountains. The air is so fresh up here that thought of the busy city of Lima will seem very far away!
You’ll finish the 23km cycle section of this bike Lima tour here, and a vehicle will be waiting to take you to a delicious lunch stop, your opportunity to recharge the batteries and taste some authentic Peruvian cuisine.
After lunch, your vehicle will take you to the archaeological site of Pachacamac, which was once one of the most significant religious sites in ancient Peru. Marvel at the colossal temples and appreciate the well-preserved frescoes as you wander around this remarkable complex. On this Lima ancient ruins tour you'll learn about the importance of this sacred site from your informative local guide, who will explain more about local history and myths of Pachacamac.
Afterwards, hop back in the van and travel along a section of the iconic Panamerican Highway back to Miraflores where this epic adventure ends, and you’ll be dropped off at the hotel of your choice in Miraflores.
Please note that some cycling experience is recommended for the bike section of this tour, as some off-road sections are single track paths. No need to be a mountain bike pro, but we recommend that tour passengers come with a little experience of off-road biking.
