Itinerary

Take this fascinating journey through the recent history of Berlin and in particular the city and its relationship with its Jewish residents.
To start our Berlin tour, we head for the "Palace of Tears", where we learn the amazing story behind the name of this place. We visit the emotional sites, where Jewish children were either rescued, or more often sent to deadly killing camps in Poland. Along the way, you will gain an insight and appreciation for Berlins’ Jewish heritage and past. We then visit the famous Humboldt University, which has been the place of research for more than 29 Nobel prize winners.
We continue to the Museum Island with its astonishing world class museums and see more of this UNESCO world heritage site. We discover the New Synagogue and hear the stories of the so-called „Night of Broken Glass“. Be ready for some great pictures with the golden dome of the building -  a stunning Berlin travel picture moment. Continuing on our Berlin sightseeing tour, we walk to the grave of famous Jewish philosopher Moses Mendelssohn. Afterwards, we'll learn about an amazing man, a bread baker during the war. His family-run bakery is the best place in town to sample Berlin's traditional treat, a hand-made „Berliner”. One part of this tour is to delve into the dark story of the Jewish population in Berlin between 1933-1945 and to find out whether the Germans have come to terms with this dark piece of their past.
As we walk some of the backstreets of Berlin, we get a glimpse of the backyards of Old-Berlin's typical tenement houses, where in past times thousands of workers lived under horrible and trying conditions. Any Berlin travel experience is not complete without a very detailed and up close experience: "The Wall". In one of the few places in Berlin, where it still remains as a symbol of the past, we uncover the reasons, emotions and stories behind this place, which was so deadly before 1989. You will hear how the wall started as a barbed wire fence erected overnight, and evolved to its final incarnation as an advanced multi-wall system which came to be a potent symbol of the Cold War.
Through pictures, maps and original documents, your guide will give you a unique experience as you see the transformation Berlin has made. It truly makes this Berlin tour come alive!
