Itinerary

Fly into Cuzco, the epicentre of traditional Peruvian culture. A great town to explore on foot, discover the city's colonial churches and museums or make for the ancient Inca ruins peppering the surrounding hillsides.
Travel through the lushly terraced Sacred Valley, stopping off en route at a local village to gain insight into the lifestyles and customs of Peru's rural population. Head up the ruins of Ollantaytambo for a lesson in Inca urban planning and spectacular views across the landscape.
Travel by train along the Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes.
Rise early for the chance to watch Machu Picchu's imposing structure emerge from the mist in the morning light. Learn about the sight's history on a tour with a local guide, then return to Cuzco for some further time getting to know this charming colonial city.
Resting 3,800 m above sea level, Lake Titicaca is the world's highest navigable lake. Cruise out to the impressive floating villages on the Uros Islands - a truly novel way of remaining beyond the reach of hostile tribes!
Cross into Bolivia and journey on to the country's unofficial capital, La Paz. Spend time wandering the city's narrow streets and laneways savouring Bolivian cuisine, or head for the Museo de Coca for the inside scoop on the world's most controversial plant before this South American adventure winds up.
