About Peru

Peruvian Pathways Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Lima

Lima is a large, fascinating hotchpotch of architectural styles, coastal scenes, world cuisines, impressive museums, traditional culture and modern arts and nightlife.

Days 2-3 Amazon Jungle

Located on the Madre de Dios River near Puerto Maldonado, our eco-friendly lodge is the perfect base for expeditions into the jungle and encounters with the magnificent fauna and flora.

Day 4 Cuzco

Cuzco is the gateway to Machu Picchu and a city with majestic architecture, impressive ruins, a lively town centre and cultural significance around every cobblestone corner. On this trip you can opt to hike the Inca Trail. Winding around mountains, through valleys and up steep slopes, the iconic Inca Trail is a series of beautiful vistas and challenging hikes all the way to Machu Picchu.

Day 5 Sacred Valley/Ollantaytambo

The Sacred Valley was once the heartland of the Inca Empire and now contains picturesque villages and impressive archeological sites. Located in the Urubamba Valley, the city of Ollantaytambo is an incredible archeological site and the starting point of the classic Inca Trail trek.

Days 6-7 Cuzco/Inca Trail

Make the most of two days in charming Cuzco, ancient epicenter of the Inca empire. Check out the archaeological sites of Qenqo, Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman dotting the town's hillsides, or simply settle back with a mug of coca tea at a cosy cafe. Alternatively, there is the option to hike the mighty Inca Trail. Traverse high, rocky plateaux and challenging mountain peaks, trek through dense cloud forest and pass crumbling temple ruins. Climbing the steps of the Sun Gate and seeing majestic Machu Picchu rising from the mist is an experience to remember.

Day 8 Aguas Calientes

Sitting at the base of Machu Picchu in a picturesque valley, Aguas Calientes takes its name from the numerous hot springs that are dotted throughout the area.

Days 9-10 Machu Picchu/Cuzco

Built sometime in the 15th century and rediscovered in 1911, the staggering ruins of Machu Picchu were thought to be an estate for the Incan emperor, Pachacuti. A World Heritage site set among red-green hills with ruins scattered close by, Cuzco is impressive in every way - be it history, culture, nightlife or architecture.

Days 11-12 Puno/Lake Titicaca

Be enchanted by the striking scenery and unique cultures on a cruise around Lake Titicaca. Stop by the amazing floating Uros islands which are created entirely from reeds. Then call into Taquile Island for some woollen handicrafts.

Days 13-14 Lima

Discover a pre-Inca burial ground at Sillustani. End this adventure back by the seaside in Lima.
