My obsession with travel started when I was growing up just outside London. Every night as a child I would fall asleep gazing at a world map and I have fond memories of planning my first round the world trip before I'd reached double figures. It took me a while to get started with my first overseas adventure, but since then I have hardly looked back.

I started work in the travel industry ten years ago and have worked in a variety of roles, with my most recent (and exciting!) being a tour leader and driver with a sister company of Intrepid Travel. I spent five amazing years guiding groups through Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Central and South America visiting a total of 86 countries in 6 continents so far... 100 is calling!

I'm often asked where my favourite destination is, but honestly, it's too hard a question! With all the wonderful sights, sounds, tastes, aromas, and most importantly the people - locals and travellers alike - it's a tough call to pick out just one memory. Pop into the store or give us a call and we can have a chat about your next fantastic adventure.

After my first foray into another land - Thailand many years ago - my thirst for travel and the cultures that came with it grew at a rapid pace. So began many trips back to South-East Asia, India, Egypt and Europe. Returning to university to complete my Bachelor of Communications in Social Science only fed my desire of all things worldly. So off I went to work for Intrepid Travel as a group leader in India. These two seasons in this fascinating country has been the greatest experience of my life to date and has given me agreat love for this part of the world.

Returning to reality I have found myself again working for Intrepid from a more comfortable position. But the travelling will never stop. There's still a whole world out there to explore.

Ever since I first flipped through the pages of National Geographic and saw images of exotic cultures I was hit by the travel bug. Some people can not travel long distances but the longer the better for me, travelling to me is all about the journey not the destination. All the different crazy modes of transportation, the people to keep you company and the scenes along the way is what I remember. Plus it helps that I can sleep anywhere!

Different worlds have always been my passion. Other cultures where the people have serene budda like smiles, speak alien dialects and eat exotic, spicy foods. Asia is as close as one can get to another planet and is the reason I keep going back year after year.

After 5 years of working in the travel industry I found a home at Intrepid which really reverberated with my style of travel and lets me talk about what I love everyday. Travel!

Travelling to me means emerging into exciting and different cultures, indulging in exotic foods, sharing life changing experiences with your new found friends and creating memories that you will reminisce over for decades to come.

Travelling is something that I am passionate about and I am happy to now be sharing my experiences with other intrepid travellers to create their own unforgettable adventure.

My own adventures have taken me to the Middle East where I lived and worked as a Tour Leader in Egypt and Jordan for 18 months, and then later in Morocco for 9 months. When not on tour I loaded my backpack and went out on adventures of my own to discover more of the magic the world has to offer. I rambled through Lebanon, Syria, Iran and Turkey, then later experience my first Overland Adventure through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. From Morocco I made numerous short trips to Spain, France, Belgium and UK. On the way home I had my first taste of Asia, visiting China, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Although I am not travelling now, my adventurous spirit lives on through the travellers I talk to daily here in the store.
