In January 2007, we introduced our Feel Good Flights to Australia. The emissions from these flights are calculated by Origin Energy and automatically offset. That means that every time you book your flight through us, you fly in the knowledge that your environmental impact has been reduced.
We're excited to say that an amazing number of Intrepid travellers have chosen to book these Feel Good Flights. In the first year alone our travellers offset 18,700 tonnes of carbon. In 2008, Feel Good Flights are estimated to offset a further 35,000 tonnes. That means Intrepid's travellers will have offset carbon emissions that equal the equivalent of taking 12,725 cars off the road! This calculation is based on a mid-sized car driving an average of 20,000 km annually. We use Origin Energy's carbon calculator to assess the emissions from Feel Good Flights departing Australia. These emissions are then offset by Origin Energy through projects in Australia and internationally which promote energy efficiency, produce renewable energy or sequester carbon from the atmosphere.
