Kunming is yours for the taking. Enjoy plenty of free time in the liveable, laid-back 'Spring City' to make your own discoveries
Finish up in Hong Kong, a perfect playground for urban adventures. Ride the ferry or tram for spectacular views of the town's natural splendour, or hit the harbour for an incredible synchronised light shows by night
There are two quite long journeys on this trip – one from Hanoi to Mengzi, over the Chinese border (Day 2); the other a sleeper train from Kunming to Guangzhou, your stepping-stone to Hong Kong (Day 9). The sleeper train is especially fun, however – a chance to see the real China.

I wasn't fussed on Hanoi but loved the China component of the holiday and would suggest including more of China and not going to Hong Kong as it wasn't my most favourite destination. Overall the holiday was good value for money.

China was an amazing destination. Such different culture. We found it so important to have a local guide whose local knowledge of language and places made a big difference to our trip. Great places to see - highlights the Rice Terraces of Yuanyang, staying in the centre of the old town in Jianshui with its old buildings and interesting local shops. Train trip from Kumning also a highlight. Mountains and continuous rice fields.
