Enjoy learning about parts of traditional Aboriginal Australian culture through bush tucker talks, didgeridoo demonstrations and traditional basket weaving. Head on to the Mary River for a look at the tremendous ‘salties’ that populate the waters here, and then continue to Kakadu National Park this afternoon. Hike Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) and take a refreshing plunge in the pools before camping overnight in the national park.
Enjoy the thrill of 4WD action today as you head on to the stunning plunge of Jim Jim Falls. Take a swim or simply relax on the sandy beach. After some lunch take a journey into the past and visit the quiet majesty of Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr. Take an interpretive cultural walk through various rock art sites before reaching a lookout where you can stand atop the Nardab floodplains. Spend the evening in the Mary River region.
Pay a visit to the stunning natural beauty of Litchfield National Park and explore Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and the Buley Rockholes. Enjoy a cooling dip in some croc-free waters and then motor on back to Darwin where you can toast to the end of your top end adventure with new friends.
Today you will depart on your flight from Darwin to Alice Springs. Take your memories with you and look forward to your next adventure through the Red Centre.
Begin the day with a visit to an outback camel farm. Those up for it can climb atop one of these majestic creatures and go for a ride through the desert. Afterwards, head on to Uluru, explore the domes of Kata Tjuta and hike through the Valley of the Winds. Watch the sun set over the heart of Australia before experiencing the ultimate dining experience – a 1000-star dinner. Then after a good feed and great company, curl up in swag and sleep under a dreamy night sky.
Wake at dawn and watch the soft morning light bring Uluru to life. Take a walk around the base of the rock and soak up the tranquil ambience. Later, deepen your understanding of the land and the Mala people on an interpretive walk with an Aboriginal guide. Visit the Cultural Centre to see some traditional Aboriginal arts and crafts before travelling on to Watarrka National Park (Kings Canyon).
Pull on your hiking boots and venture into Kings Canyon. Be entranced by the enormity and ethereal beauty of the area, trek to the Amphitheatre, discover the Lost City, walk through the Garden of Eden and see the North and South walls. Share your stories of the day at our camp in Erldunda as the stars pinprick the night sky.
Cross the border into South Australia and visit the town of Marla en route to Coober Pedy, the ‘Opal Capital of the World’. Enjoy a guided tour of the town, visit an underground mine and stop in at the museum. Enjoy an overnight stay in a unique underground bunkhouse.
Continue south along the Stuart Highway, stopping at the salt lakes of central Australia for some fantastic photo opportunities. Pass by Woomera before stopping for lunch in Port Augusta. Arrive in the quaint, historic township of Quorn – stretch your legs and take a walk around. Dinner this evening is a delicious Aussie barbecue.
Fuel up at breakfast before hiking to the summit of Dutchman's Stern. Don’t forget your camera, as the panoramic views from the top are incredible. See if you can point out Quorn, Spencer Gulf and the Flinders Ranges. Travel on to the Clare Valley, one of Australia’s oldest wine regions, then to Adelaide where this adventure winds up.
