North Morocco Adventure SummaryAdd to Shortlist
With a bustling old medina, Art-Deco buildings, contemporary art galleries and one of Africa's biggest ports, Casablanca is a city of all ages.
The great walls of Rabat enclose a largely modern city with a laidback atmosphere, but there's still plenty of historic sights to remind visitors of its colourful past. The sacred pilgrimage town of Moulay Idriss is a wonder to explore as the faithful gather to pay homage to the founding father of Islam in Morocco at the 8th-century mausoleum.
Dating from antiquity, Volubilis is now a site of wonderfully preserved Roman ruins near the town of Moulay Idriss. Being in Fes is like stepping back in time. Stately city walls, labyrinthine medinas and a wonderfully preserved Old City has made Fes one of Morocco's favourite destinations.
Along with a relaxed vibe and charming medina, the blue hues of Chefchaouen, set against the greenness of the Rif Mountains, startle even the weariest traveller. Combining the old-world sights and sounds of the kasbah with the contemporary charms of its recently redeveloped seaside promenade, the vibrant port of Tangier has plenty to offer.
Marrakech is a feast for the senses. Be enticed by the alluring scents and brilliant colours of the spice markets, the sounds of the musicians and the perfume of its gardens.

He was our quiet leader and a true member of our group. It didn't feel like summer camp (I can imagine that a more boisterous and gregarious personality could make it feel a bit like that) but instead he seemlessly kept all of the complicated transfers organized without it seeming like a big deal, and he was always there to answer any questions we had about anything and to explain whatever we needed to know about what we were doing or seeing. He was a real resource, and I had many interesting and enjoyable conversations with him, both about the trip and the country and about life in general.
