Day 1 Ouarzazate

A former staging point for trans-Saharan caravans, Ouarzazate is now a popular film-making location with productions such as Lawrence of Arabia and Black Hawk Down shot here.

Day 2 Tamnougault

Once an important Saharan trade hub, Tamnougalt is now a sleepy town with a famous kasbah and other buildings with distinctive wall decorations.

Day 3 Draa Valley & Zagora

Known as the 'doors of the desert', Zagora is a palmerie town with great pottery and ceramic workshops on the way into the desert.

Day 4 Nkob

The small oasis village of Nkob, with its many mud-brick ksours (castles), is the capital of an ancient Berber tribe.

Day 5 Boumaine-Dades

Dades Gorge is a narrow valley with natural beauty and dramatic mountain vistas, as well as a number of Berber kasbahs that are truly breathtaking.

Day 6 Ait Benhaddou

Sitting on a hilltop and looking unchanged since the 11th century, Ait Benhaddou is one of Morocco's most treasured, alluring and iconic sites.

Days 7-8 Marrakech
