Day 1 Kuching

Bask in the laidback atmosphere of Kuching, then get ready for a jungle adventure in Sarawak.

Day 2 Bako National Park

Refresh your senses and keep your eyes peeled for monkeys as you trek through the lush rainforest in Bako National Park.

Day 3 Kuching

After a morning hike, emerge from the wilderness and travel to Semenggoh Orangutan Sanctuary.

Day 4 Iban Longhouse

Be welcomed in the longhouses of the Iban people and spend an evening learning about their amazing history and culture. Visit nearby waterfalls on a guided jungle walk, gain insights into the locals’ day-to-day life and discover their fascinating headhunting history over a home-cooked meal.

Days 5-7 Mulu National Park

Head to Mulu National Park to navigate the thrilling jungles and caves. Hop in a longboat and sail along winding rivers and experience sunset at Deer Cave.

Day 8 Headhunters Trail/Limbang

Trek along a section of Headhunters’ Trail, a jungle path historically used by warring parties in the region.

Days 9-10 Kota Kinabalu

Experience the frontier charm of Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah, sandwiched between palm oil plantations and the sultry South China Sea. If arriving early, why not venture to the Sabah Museum and check out the impressive collection of tribal artefacts on display.

Day 11 Dusun Village

Learn about the spiritual, economic and social ties that locals have with Mt Kinabalu on a village homestay. Spend a night in traditional accommodation, which is nestled in the shadow of this imposing mountain.

Days 12-13 Mt Kinabalu

Head into the unspoilt wilderness of the World Heritage-listed Kinabalu National Park. Then, fuelled by fresh air and stunning views, set off on an energetic hike up Mt Kinabalu. Conquer the sometimes challenging ascent, stopping to admire a diverse range of flora and fauna species along the way. Settle in for the night at a local resthouse.

Days 14-15 Poring Hot Springs

Wake early to complete the final ascent up Mt Kinabalu and take in a breathtaking panorama of jungles in one direction and the South China Sea in the other. Enjoy a well-deserved soak in the Japanese-style Poring Hot Springs - believed to have healing properties for the skin. While here, perhaps get a new perspective of the jungle on a tree canopy walk, visit a nearby butterfly farm or trek to Laganan Falls.

Day 16 Kinabatangan River

Travel into the steamy Kinabatangan Rainforest. Learn how locals contribute to the region’s conservation at MESCOT, an Intrepid Foundation-supported project that provides villagers with environmental education. Explore the jungle by boat and try to spot curious wildlife cavorting through the trees. At night, sleep in huts listening for the nocturnal calls of wild orangutans, hornbills and macaques.

Day 17 Sandakan

Embark on an early morning wildlife cruise on the Kinabatangan River. Then make tracks to the busy city of Sandakan, home to historic Chinese temples and an island-studded bay.

Day 18 Turtle Island

Pass by small villages and bamboo fish traps on a speedboat ride to Turtle Island. After spending quality time relaxing on the beach, be touched by the sight of giant green turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs under the moonlight.

Day 19 Sepilok

The soulful eyes of Borneo's famous creatures will melt hearts on a visit to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Learn about conservation on an optional tour of the Rainforest Discovery Centre or check out the cheeky proboscis monkeys at a sanctuary in Labuk Bay.

Days 20-21 Kota Kinabalu

Fly back to Kota Kinabalu and spend a final day on the beach or chilling out poolside. If feeling restless, perhaps take advantage of the host of water sports available, or end this colourful adventure with a final group meal.
