About Kenya

Kenya Family - Land of the Maasai Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Nairobi

Welcome to magical Kenya, a country renowned for its exceptional game viewing opportunities. Head to the suburbs of Nairobi for an unexpected chance to get up close to some of Africa’s best loved animals. Make friends with the rescued animals of Sheldricks Elephant Orphanage, feed the long-necked residents of the giraffe centre and find out about the great work of these conservation projects.

Day 2 Lake Nakuru

Pitch tents along the colourful waters of this lake, turned pink by the multitude of flamingos that have made Nakuru their home. Keep cameras handy for glimpses of other local wildlife, including white rhino and waterbuck, which are often spotted on its shores.

Days 3-4 Lake Navaisha

Swap one water-based backdrop for another, the very different Rift Valley lake. Look out for giraffes and buffalo wandering among the surrounding acacia, and maybe board a boat to take a closer look at the hippo sleeping in the shallows.

Day 5 Loita Hills

Travel across the Great Rift Valley floor to Loita Hills, right in the heart of Maasai country. Tonight, camp amongst these friendly, semi-nomadic tribes and learn about their ancient culture from a local elder. Perhaps pick up a local recipe while sharing a campfire meal.

Days 6-7 Masai Mara

Be charmed by Kenya's phenomenal wealth of wildlife. Embark on a series of mind-blowing game drives through the Masai Mara, exploring the savanna grasslands and waterholes in search of big cats such as lion, cheetah and leopard, as well as mighty elephant and perhaps even the famous herds of migrating wildebeest.

Day 8 Nairobi

After the rewards of an early game drive, get set for a day’s travelling back to Nairobi. That night enjoy a farewell dinner with the group, or consider visitting the city’s famous Carnivore restaurant for an exotic barbecue finale to a holiday sure to have exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations.
