Start this family adventure in Jordan’s exciting capital, Amman. With time to spare, why not head out on foot to unravel some of the country’s history? The next day, be transported back in time on a visit to the ancient Roman city of Jerash to admire the well-preserved structures including several theatres, a hippodrome and public baths.

Travel along the Desert Highway to Madaba, where Muslim and Christian places of worship sit side by side, amid Byzantine 6th-century mosaics set in the ground like giant jigsaws. Stop by Mount Nebo, believed to be the final resting place of Moses and spot Bedouin tents on the horizon. Finally, explore the shadowy dungeons and hallways of Kerak Castle, which sits high above a desert valley.

Make your way to Petra, Jordan’s revered ancient site, through the kilometre long stretch of stone wall, which eventually spills out into the breathtaking ‘rose city’. Trek the challenging ascent up to the Monastery and be rewarded with dramatic vistas of the canyons below.

Venture out into the vast expanse of Wadi Rum desert, where sandstone cliffs shimmer on the horizon. Enjoy a 4WD tour through this mind-boggling landscape, stopping to marvel at ancient rock inscriptions, before spending a peaceful night camping among the dunes.

Travel to Aqaba on the Red Sea Coast for some fun, sun and relaxation. Perhaps go snorkelling in the warm, shallow waters, take a long walk along the shoreline or simply kick back by the pool.

Head further north today along King’s Highway today, keeping an eye out for nomadic shepherds, to the Dead Sea. Be amazed at the density of the water, which allows your body to float effortlessly, and feel rejuvenated by the healing mineral properties the sea is famous for. On the final day, your tour will end at your Dead Sea resort after breakfast, last chance to splurge yourself in all theses highly beneficial salty minerals from the Dead Sea.
