Explore untouched southern Italy on this exciting Italian tour
See another side of Italy on this trip through the astonishing Puglia region, one of the lesser-known places in Italy. Let the history, culture and cuisine of southern Italy enchant you as you explore 9,000-year-old sassi dwellings carved out of rock in Matera, marvel at ornate frescoes in Lecce, wonder at the beehive-shaped trulli houses of Alberobello and be left breathless at the sight of the Amalfi Coast. Take in modern delights at Naples and Sorrento and see its contrast in Italy’s ancient past at Pompeii and Polignano on this unique tour in Italy.

Explore Southern Italy Summary
Add to ShortlistDay 1 Bari
Puglia's prosperous seaside capital, the tangled streets of Bari's charming old town reveal Romanesque churches, a riotous market and elegant medieval piazzas.
Day 2 Matera
One of the oldest cities in existence, the extraordinary sight of Matera's sassi - stone houses formed from natural grottoes - give a haunting insight into ancient life.
Day 3 Alberobello
The quaint town of Alberobello is home to the beehive-shaped trulli: small, dry-stone houses built from local limestone which are unique to this area of Puglia.
Days 4-5 Lecce
Baroque ornamentation is elevated to dizzying heights in Leece. Roman ruins and magnificent allegories dancing across ornate facades present visitors with a feast for the senses.
Days 6-7 Polignano/Trani
Built on rocky cliffs which rise dramatically from the blue waters of the Adriatic, the small town of Polignano boasts a wealth of sights thanks to its ancient settlement and history of invasion.
With a stunning seaside cathedral, medieval streets and its own, sweet wine, Trani is truly like stepping back into a 1950s movie set.
Days 8-10 Naples/Pompeii
With its heritage-listed historical centre and fascinating Archeological Museum, Naples's extraordinary history is obvious - plus it's home to some of the best pizza Italy has to offer.
Destroyed by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius 2,000 years ago, the ruins of ancient Pompeii are a time capsule quite unlike any other ruined city in the world.
Days 11-12 Sorrento
The seaside resort of Sorrento has been a popular tourist destination for centuries and it's easy to see why with its fine piazzas, sidewalk cafes and glamorous shops.
Days 13-15 Amalfi
A land of rocky coasts, cliff-top vistas, azure seas and bright blue skies, the Amalfi Coast has picturesque towns and dramatic trails to explore.
