Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Medan

Indonesia's third-largest city, Medan can be chaotic but its diverse ethnic communities serve up a mouth-watering array of local flavours on every street corner.

Days 2-3 Lake Toba

Lake Toba is the world's largest volcanic lake, formed thousands of years ago by a 'supervolcano'. Today it's home to the warm and friendly Batak Toba people.

Days 4-5 Berastagi

Known for its rich agricultural industry, Berastagi is a charming town centred around the colourful local produce in its busy fruit and vegetable markets.

Days 6-7 Ketambe

The tiny village of Ketambe is the gateway to Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the world's most diverse ecosystems and home to the fascinating Sumatran orangutan.

Days 8-9 Gayo Highlands

Built on the picturesque shores of Laut Tawar Lake in the magnificent Gayo Highlands, Takengon boasts panoramic views and some of the world's best coffee.

Days 10-11 Banda Aceh

Completely devastated in the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, today Banda Aceh has recovered its friendly village-like atmosphere but monuments to the scale of that terrible disaster still remain.

Days 12-13 Pulau Weh

The postcard-perfect island of Pulau Weh is a tropical paradise of pristine white sand beaches, palm trees swaying in the breeze and dazzling coral reefs.
