Day 1 Kathmandu

Visit Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, and soak up its rich atmosphere. Perhaps sit on the steps in Durbar Square to see Nepali life swirl past or head out to visit the temples of Pashupatinath and Bodhnath.

Days 2-3 Chitwan National Park

After the bustle and crush of Kathmandu, travel down to the jungle lowlands for a touch of peace and quiet. Visit Bis Hajaar Tal, known as ‘20,000 Lakes’. Keep your eyes peeled for peacocks and wild boar and if we’re lucky, rhinos and tigers. In the evening, be dazzled by a traditional Nepali dance demonstration.

Day 4 Gorokphur

Spend a morning seeking out Chitwan's shy and rare one-horned rhino on a jungle walk or jeep safari then travel to the Nepal-India border.

Days 5-6 Varanasi

Set on the banks of the sacred River Ganges, Varanasi is awash with sights and sounds to overwhelm the senses. Learn the different uses of the ghats - both spiritual and secular.

Days 7-8 Bandhavgarh National Park

Home to one of the world’s largest Bengal Tiger populations, Bandhavgarh National Park has been running conservation projects to protect these impressive animals since the early seventies. Take a safari and keep an eye out for the big cats, as well as deer, hyenas and porcupines.

Days 9-10 Khajuraho

Khajuraho was once the capital of the Chandella Kings who built the magnificent Hindu and Jain temples here around 1000 AD. Considered to be 'one of the seven wonders of India', the temples have been almost perfectly preserved.

Days 11-12 Agra

Set out early on a rickshaw tour of Agra. Be spellbound by surreal beauty as you watch the sun rise over the Taj Mahal and step back in time as you explore the historic Agra Fort.

Days 13-14 Jaipur

Experience the eerie desolation of Fatehpur Sikri en route to Jaipur, the 'Pink City'. Those inclined can take an early morning hot air balloon ride over ancient Jaipur to spot the city’s many palaces from the sky.

Days 15-16 Delhi

Lose yourself in the hustle and bustle of dramatic Delhi. Feel the pulse of India’s heartland as you join the crowds on the city streets to explore the sights and sounds of this incredible city.

Day 17 Bikaner

Make the journey to Rajasthan's Bikaner, a fascinating town to explore with its striking palaces, temples and fort.

Days 18-20 Jaisalmer/Camel Safari

Explore the Thar Desert outside Jaisalmer from high atop a camel and perhaps even sleep out among the dunes. Visit the Jaisalmer Fort and marvel at the huge city walls.

Days 21-22 Jodhpur

The mighty Mehrangarh Fort dominates Rajasthan's second largest city. Climb the ramparts and look down over the quirky blue city of Jodhpur.

Days 23-25 Udaipur

An essence of romance imbues every stone of historic Udaipur and a walk through the old town brings a surprise with every corner. Stroll along the shores of Udaipur's Lake Pichola, stare up in awe at the towering City Palace and discover why this magnificent city is considered the ‘Venice of the East’.

Day 26 Mandu

Once known as the 'city of joy' and dating back many centuries, the hilltop fort of Mandu is an evocative and slightly eerie place to explore.

Days 27-28 Ajanta/Ellora

Discover the remarkable, ancient Buddhist temple complex of Ajanta, with its beautifully decorated paintings and sculptures. Incredibly, some of this artwork dates back to 200 BC.

Day 29 Ellora

Carry on the temple touring with a visit out to nearby Ellora. See magnificent monumental Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves cut from the rock face of the Charanandri hills.

Days 30-31 Mumbai

Home to massive bazaars and the lights of Bollywood, Mumbai has a wealth of things to sample, taste, try and buy - and plenty of top notch sightseeing. Set off to explore this quintessential Indian city and mark the conclusion of the trip with a hot curry and cold beer.
