The Croatian coast is also very hilly and mountainous, so many steps are a feature of the landscape. You will have to be able to easily lift your luggage and carry it up and down stairs and inclines, so packing light is recommended. Also, stone streets become very slippery when wet. Some people may find Croatia's topography very demanding.
Summer temperatures can be extreme in many of the regions visited (over 40°C), which can be uncomfortable. It’s important to use sun protection, wear layers to combat the heat and drink plenty of water. Please carefully consider the time of the year you wish to travel and your suitability to that season.

We enjoyed sharing this fun and informative introduction to local Slovenian, Istrian, and Croatian food and wine -- and their production -- with other passionate foodies. Highlights for us included truffle-hunting and a delicious truffle-laden lunch in Motovun, a tour and wine-tasting in a boutique winery in the southern Istrian peninsula, a hike through Plitvice National Park in Croatia, and a cooking class in Split.

Truffle hunting and boutique winery experiences were highlights of this tour. From wandering through the forest hunting for truffles, getting to eat your finds and sitting under a cherry tree for hours sampling wines. This tour was delightful and provided wonderful experiences to interact with locals and discover the way they eat and drink. It was only enhanced by the people on the tour who you already had two things in common with - the love of food and travel!
