Day 2 Skogarfoss and Eyjafjallajokull

Explore Iceland’s southern shore and visit the volcano that famously burst into life for the first time in nearly 200 years in March 2010. Perhaps gain a different view of the dramatic terrain on horseback.

Day 3 Skaftafel National Park

Freeze in amazement at one of Iceland’s most spectacular sights. Board a boat to watch icebergs break off the glacier and float across this glacial lagoon. Head over to the bordering natural park to see the dramatic landscape that's created when ice, rivers and volcanoes collide.

Day 4 Gullfoss, Geysir and Pingvellir

Watch geysers explode into action and marvel at the sight and sounds of the plunging Gullfoss (Golden Falls), one of Iceland’s most wonderful waterfalls. Travel to the national park at Pingvellir to potentially stand with one foot on either side of the shifting European and American tectonic plates.

Day 5 Blue lagoon

Decide on how best to continue discovering Iceland’s natural charms. Why not join a whale watching expedition, or perhaps visit the volcanic paradise of the Westman Islands – one of the country’s best kept secrets – in search of lava flows and puffins.

Days 6-7 Lava Caving and Heiomork Hike

Venture into the extraordinary subterranean lava tube caves that are large enough to walk through. For a final glimpse of Iceland’s explosive roots, walk around Hengill’s geothermal area, where mud pools and hot springs provide a glimmer of the power below. Spend the final night in Reykjavik, keeping a look out for the midnight sun, before this phenomenal family adventure draws to an end.
