Today we head south to the small settlement of Skogar and visit the beautiful natural wonder of Skógarfoss a 60m high water fall which tumbles down over jagged rocks
The Skaftafel National Park contains some of Icelands finest scenery with a rugged landscape of glaciers and mountains, there are no roads in the park but a series of hiking trails allows you to explore the area.
The geyser is something that defines Iceland so much that this name has become synonymous with this spectacular occurance and today we will visit them ourselves.
Decide on how best to continue discovering Iceland’s natural charms. Why not join a whale watching expedition, or perhaps visit the volcanic paradise of the Westman Islands – one of the country’s best kept secrets – in search of lava flows and puffins.
Venture into the extraordinary subterranean lava tube caves that are large enough to walk through. For a final glimpse of Iceland’s explosive roots, walk around Hengill’s geothermal area, where mud pools and hot springs provide a glimmer of the power below. Spend the final night in Reykjavik, keeping a look out for the midnight sun, before this phenomenal family adventure draws to an end.
