The Greek Islands Summary

Add to Shortlist

Day 1 Athens

Named after the goddess of wisdom, Athens has a weighty history that spills out over the modern city, represented most dramatically by the ancient Acropolis.

Days 2-3 Syros

Offering a rare opportunity to see the islands as the Greeks do, Syros has typical whitewashed houses, terraced fields and fabulous sandy beaches.

Days 4-5 Mykonos

Legendary in both ancient and modern times, Mykonos was the mythic battlefield where Zeus fought the Gigantes but today it's best known for its decadent nightlife.

Days 6-8 Santorini

Formed by a huge volcanic explosion, Santorini is instantly recognisable with its blue and white buildings, fascinating ruins and spectacular natural beauty.

Days 9-10 Ios

Home to 365 churches and chapels, one for each day of the year, Ios has an appealing blend of golden beaches and classic Aegean architecture.

Days 11-13 Naxos

The largest and most fertile of the Cycladic Islands, Naxos has picturesque villages, Byzantine churches, lush valleys, ancient citrus groves and wonderful beaches.

Days 14-15 Athens

The birthplace of Western civilisation, Athens has an amazing array of historic sites to explore, including the National Gardens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the original Olympic Stadium.
