Tbilisi to Istanbul, October 2013
The itinerary in Turkey needs to be re-thought. Some of the decision making, particularly in Turkey, seemed to be made more for the benefit of the tour leaders than the group. Some issues as well regarding communication and the management of expectations. For example, it was suggested that we could get to Goreme with only one night camping. The group made it clear that was our preference, as long as the drivers weren't too tired. The tour leaders then decided to camp at an unacceptably cold location, even though they claimed not to be tired, and had we kept going we could have arrived at Goreme by midnight, and had more time there. The tour leaders were a couple, and therefore seemed to make less effort to involve themselves with activities with the group. While the tour leader was well organised, some of her decisions seemed to be incorrectly influenced by the co-driver.
