Days 2-7 Day walks from Ax-les-Thermes

Get the adventure underway by hiking across the ridges and meadows of the lower hills to the Sept Case plateau. Enjoy sensational vistas from atop the Roc of Scaramus. On day three, head higher into Pyrenees to the Col of Puymorens and take in views of the French, Spanish and Andorran mountains. Try to spot curious looking mouflon sheep while traversing high meadows and fertile plains. Trek to the Chapel of St Barthelemy on day four, and enjoy a circular walk with views of the dramatic Quie de Sinsat outcrop. Enjoy a day of rest on day five, perhaps taking the opportunity to reinvigorate tired muscles in the Bassin des Ladres, a pool of warm sulphurous water which, in medieval times, was used to rehabilitate soldiers wounded in the Crusades. Or, head out of town to see the ancient castle at Montsegur. On day six, head up the Aston Valley and hike through green pastures to the Refuge de Rhule, overlooking the rugged granite peaks of the Andorran border. Then, on the final day of hiking, venture to the lofty Tarbesou and the Etang Noir via a series of picturesque lakes.
