Journey to Indonesia's 'Flower Island' and discover a blissful oasis.
The many islands of Indonesia are scattered like gems across the Indian Ocean, hidden oases of tropical rainforests, wildlife and warm people ready to open their hearts and their homes to visitors. The islands are fantastical places where soaring volcanoes hold a fuming watch over charming seaside towns, and where ancient tribes keep their traditions in deep rainforest valleys. Hunt for legendary Komodo dragons, snorkel through colourful coral reefs, and walk across beaches of black, pink and white sands. Full of energy, charisma and plenty of shimmering sunlight, Indonesia’s “flower island” will leave with memories you’ll carry for a lifetime.

There are some long travel days of driving by private transport (as there are no suitable public transport options available). Some of the roads can be quite bumpy as local infrastructure development is limited. We will make stops to break up the trip and it is a good idea to read or listen to music along the way.
Accommodation in general in Flores is more basic than you would experience in Bali as tourism is still developing. This is, of course, a small price to pay for the chance to venture off the well-beaten tourist path.
We have some very early mornings to make the most of our days, including a 2am start on Day 3 to see Mount Kelimutu at sunrise. Bring your alarm clock, and be prepared to catch up on sleep on the bus or boat.
The accommodation at Wae Rebo is basic village accommodation. Your group may join with other guests sleeping on floor mats inside the hut. There are no shower facilities for our overnight stay here.
There is an included snorkelling activity on this trip and you will need to be a confident swimmer to participate. Those who don't wish to snorkel can spend time on the boat or beach.
There are some included treks so good fitness and suitable footwear is required. See the itinerary for more detail.
A head torch will come in very handy on this trip for the early morning starts, sunrise trek and village stays.
