Day 1 Addis Ababa

Take to the skies and be sure to grab a window seat on a spectacular flight to Gonder. Get a birds eye view of the Ethiopian plateau before touching down and taking a look at some of the impressive castles built by Ethiopia’s former kings.

Day 2 Fly to Gondar

Take to the skies and be sure to grab a window seat on a spectacular flight to Gonder. Get a birds eye view of the Ethiopian plateau before touching down and taking a look at some of the impressive castles built by Ethiopia’s former kings.

Day 3 Debark

Hit the road bound for Debark, a tiny village that acts as a gateway to the Simien National Park. After preparing for the trek ahead, take a short walk to a spectacular overnight camping spot.

Day 4 Trek to Geech via Jinbar Waterfall.

Walk near picturesque settlements and villages, passing Sankabar and a spectacular waterfall before arriving in our campsite in Geech.

Day 5 Day walk to Imetgogo.

Head for Imetgogo, where dramatic views of gorges and the Simien Mountain Range are bound to stun.

Day 6 Trek to Chennek via Enatyie Escarpment.

Walk towards the edge of an escarpment then follow it to the top of Inatye. Be awed by breathtaking views all the way to camp.

Day 7 Trek to Ambiko with ascent of Bwuhit.

Limber up for a tough day's trekking to Ambiko. An abundance of birdlife inhabit Ethiopia's skies: this is the place to spot siskins, falcons and kestrel. In reaching a pass of 4,200m, there's the chance for those keen to keep pushing themselves to continue on to the summit of Bwuhit (4,430m). Then it's a steady descent down to 2,500m for two nights of camping.

Day 8 Ascent of Ras Dashen.

At 4,550m, Ras Dashen is Ethiopia's highest mountain. It's a long day of trekking that takes us to the top, but the views are exceptional.

Day 9 Trek to Sona via Arkwasiye.

Today brings more hills to conquer but with the promise of sipping fresh coffee in a small village before arriving in Sona.

Day 10 Descend to Ansiya Wenz River and on to Lamo Camp.

Trek down to the lowlands of the Ansiya Valley, relaxing over lunch before following a picturesque path to camp, which is located near the village of Mekarebya.

Day 11 Continue to Mulit Camp.

Enjoy a day of startling scenery on the trek to Mulit, which is also home to breathtaking views of the area.

Day 12 Short walk to Adi Arkay; drive to Gondar.

Spend some of the morning walking to Adi Arkay, where we say goodbye to the spectacular Simien Mountains. Return to Gondar and enjoy the luxury of a hot shower and comfy beds.

Day 13 Fly to Addis

Take a flight back to Addis Ababa, where the trip ends in the evening.
