Beginning in Ethiopia’s cosmopolitan, but distinctly African capital, this trek takes you across lowland plains, through narrow valleys and to the heights of Ethiopia’s highest mountain – Ras Dashen. Day 1 Addis Ababa

Arrive in Ethopia’s striking capital, where businessmen in suits weave between modern conference centres and incense infused city streets. Dodge goats, cattle and chickens as you explore this influential East African metropolis on a walking tour.

Day 2 Gonder

Take to the skies and be sure to grab a window seat on a spectacular flight to Gonder. Get a birds eye view of the Ethiopian plateau before touching down and taking a look at some of the impressive castles built by Ethiopia’s former kings.

Day 3 Debark

Hit the road bound for Debark, a tiny village that acts as a gateway to the Simien National Park. After preparing for the trek ahead, take a short walk to a spectacular overnight camping spot.

Days 4-11 Simien Trek

Forge a path deep into the Simien Mountain Range, a collection of towering peaks, deep gorges and striking rock formations that have been called ‘the chess pieces of the gods’. Keep an eye out for rare wildlife and be treated to spectacular views over this unique landscape while ascending from lowland plains to the heights of Ras Dashen – the highest peak in Ethiopia. Along the way, stop in at remote villages and cool off beside mountain streams.

Day 12 Gonder

Arrive back in Gonder for a chance to rest weary bones and enjoy a hot shower.

Days 13-14 Addis Ababa

Arrive back in the sprawling capital. Spend free time exploring this dynamic African city, taking in it’s range of architectural styles and experiencing the frenzied pace of daily life.
