Day 1 Quito

Arrive in Quito, the highest capital city in the world and home to a uniquely Ecuadorian merging of ancient architectural charm and modern, vibrant personality. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon strolling around the Old Town or sitting in the shade of a local bar and people-watch.

Day 2 Isla San Cristobal

Fly to Baltra and be welcomed by a Galapagos National Park Guide. Travel to the highlands of Red Hill to visit a tortoise breeding program and information centre in the national park. Be shell-shocked by the giant tortoises as they mooch around their natural habitat and learn more about the thick-shelled giants of the Galapagos.

Day 3 Isla Bartolome

Explore the otherworldly, volcanic landscapes of Bartolome. Witness the much photographed Pinnacle Rock and hike to the top of a once-active volcano to enjoy superb views across to Sullivan Bay.

Day 4 Isla Santiago

Visit the idyllic Espumilla Beach, which is covered in remarkable lava formations, and make the journey to the infamous pirate hangout of Caleta Bucanero (Buccaneer Cove). Then, wander along the black-sand beach of Port Egas that is often covered in marine iguanas, California sea lions and Galapagos fur sea lions.

Day 5 Isla Santa Cruz/Baltra/Quito

Learn about the plight of the giant tortoise at the Charles Darwin Research Station before flying back to Quito, where an overnight stay offers one last chance to explore this fascinating city.
