A leader's perspective...
Despite being the Asia's newest nation, East Timor has an amazing and colourful history. Chinese, Javanese and Dutch traders visited the island in search of sandalwood hundreds of years ago and in the 16th century it was eventually settled by the Portuguese. Today, East Timor is pretty much untouched by tourism and is the perfect destination for an adventurous traveller. We have been running trips here for the past three years and have made many friends who happily welcome us into their homes for a night as their guests or for a chat over a steaming cup of locally-grown coffee. Come and explore this new country and ancient land the Intrepid way.
