A leader's perspective...

Why is Nicaragua my favourite country in Central America? Imagine grand colonial cities like Granada; with its ramshackle pastel facades and Havana-esque boulevards. Then there is the rustic charm of Leon; where bold revolutionary murals attest to fallen Sandinistas, the aromas of cigars and coffee linger in cafes, and tumblers of rum and coke are served with a generous dash of attitude. Or maybe it’s the picturesque Isla de Ometepe, framed by volcanoes. Memories of galloping along Santa Domingo beach; the wiry horses kicking up showers of black, volcanic sand, the strange swooping blue birds that mysteriously vanished when a camera was drawn and the flickering lights of fireflies as the sun set over the banana fields. Why not visit and let Nicaragua capture your heart as well?
