In its April 2013 edition, the influential New York-based Travel + Leisure magazine, which boasts a monthly readership in excess of 4.5 million, has listed the Hanoi Cooking Centre as one of the best cooking schools in the world.
Founded in 2009 by our very own Intrepid Foodie, Melbourne chef and cookbook author, Tracey Lister, the Hanoi Cooking Centre was one of only four schools in Asia to make the list of 27, which includes the likes of internationally acclaimed Culinary Institute of America (CIA).
Tracey Lister recently partnered with Intrepid to create a brand new itinerary focussing on authentic, local food experiences in Vietnam. Called Real Food Adventure Vietnam, this trip is designed to give Intrepid travellers a unique insight into Vietnam’s world-renowned culinary culture, alongside the many other cultural highlights the country has to offer. The Real Food Adventure Vietnam itinerary also includes a cooking class at the Hanoi Cooking Centre, where travellers embark on a guided tour of the local market, before preparing their own traditional northern Vietnamese feast.
“Being included on this list is not only a wonderful affirmation of what we are doing here at the Centre, it is also an international recognition of the quality of Vietnamese cuisine,” says Lister.
“Cooking, eating and shopping for food are central to local life here, and learning how to make authentic Vietnamese dishes is a great way to explore Vietnamese traditions and culture,” says Lister who has published two books on Vietnamese cuisine, “KOTO – A Culinary Journey Through Vietnam” and “Vietnamese Street Food” (published by Hardie Grant, Melbourne).
