Intrepid’s earth day pledge to you

intrepidexpress | responsible travel | Thursday, 14 April 2011

Darrell Wade and Intrepid tree planting dayFor over 40 years Earth Day has inspired commitments to environmental protection and sustainability. Intrepid’s Act of Green pledge for Earth Day 2011 is to: encourage all our staff, followers and fans around the world to each pledge their own green act.

As a responsible business, Intrepid is committed to many acts of green. One of our most notable achievements was in 2010, when we became a Carbon Neutral company. Our global business has (net) zero carbon emissions and we have vowed to continue this year after year.

So for our 2011 Earth Day pledge, we think it makes sense to engage with our staff, followers and fans all over the world and spread the Earth Day 2011 A Billion Acts of Green message. Here’s your chance to be one in a billion. Make an individual Act of Green pledge for Earth Day 2011.

You can pledge anything that you think will benefit the environment we live in, such as:
1. Turning off lights and appliances at the wall when not in use
2. Walking or cycling more
3. Avoid buying things you don’t need
4. Take a reusable cloth bag when you go shopping
5. Start to grow some of your own produce

Every Act registered will be counted toward Earth Day’s ultimate goal of amassing one billion actions in advance of the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A Billion Acts of Green® is the largest environmental service and advocacy campaign in the world.
