You never know where Intrepid will be stepping out next – and this week Intrepid gets OUT, literally! Or at least we are a few steps closer to the gay and lesbian community with our latest partnership with gay-owned OUT Adventures.
The brainchild of Steven Larkin and his partner Robert Sharp, this new company offers adventure travel exclusively to the LGBT community – and of course their friends.
Homegrown and based in Canada, Robert and Steven have been touring the world, and occasionally working, for the past 5 years. Each time they would return feeling there was a void in the travel market. Never totally comfortable while other couples were having fun and snapping photos, Robert and Steven decided to address the issue by starting their own company.
“We wanted to offer a safe, comfortable travel experience for people like us.” says Robert. “There were the gay cruises and resorts and even luxury small group tours, but nothing that satisfied our grassroots adventurous spirit.”
And with trips from Swaziland to Rio and Costa del Sol to Chiang Mai, it’s all about adventure! With this partnership comes an exciting new Intrepid trip style – OUT. Within the OUT style there are currently Active, Family, Comfort and In Style trips which all focus on small intimate groups. No, not that kind of intimate. But high-flying travellers couldn’t ask for more because these trips are affordable and have adopted Intrepid’s responsible travel philosophy.
