transylvania romaniaA surefire way to spot a good book is not wanting it to end. Chaya Kapadia recommends a great book for the backpack that had her wishing for more pages…

“I just finished reading The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostova, which made me want to run out and book myself on the first flight to Eastern Europe – Bucharest, Romania, Sofia, Bulgaria, Istanbul, Turkey and many of the surrounding countries as well.

The book is the account of a girl’s search for Dracula, as she retraces the steps (and reads the letters of) her father and his mentor before him. It was fascinating, I only wished the book hadn’t ended!

I’m planning on a trip sometime next spring, but haven’t decided on a destination yet. But definitely considering Eastern Europe even more now.”

If a book has inspired you to travel or simply makes for great reading while on the road, please email intrepidexpress@intrepidtravel.com – let us know a little of what it’s about plus an indication of the size, as we would love to hear your recommendation for a great backpack book!
