Q: What do a tombola in Westbury, a BBQ in Cuzco, a gourmet picnic in Florence, a bike ride in Hanoi, spiderman sightings in Lima, pot luck dinners in Toronto, a trail clean-up in Oregon, a grand auction in Nairobi, movies in Melbourne and cowboys in Beijing have in common?
A: They were all part of the activities and antics of our 2nd annual Intrepid Foundation Day.
After a successful year raising and distributing over AU$440,000 to 50 beneficiary organisations, The Intrepid Foundation’s special day was all about celebrating this achievement and getting as many Intrepid offices, leaders (and their groups) as possible participating in activities to further increase their awareness of the Foundation’s activities and the terrific community organisations we support.
The Intrepid Foundation’s Management Committee would like to thank everyone in the global Intrepid team for putting so much time and energy into the day. Globally, eleven offices organised activities for Foundation Day – including Sales Offices, Operating Companies and Head Office in Melbourne. We were particularly impressed by the efforts of the teams in Peru (pictured), North America, India, Beijing and the Marketing team from Head Office. Activities ranged from informative talks, to movie and trivia nights, office lunches and dress-ups, to participating in activities and games to experience what it is like living without sight.
We were most excited by the energy and efforts from the Intrepid Marrakech office, including their office staff and leaders – in Morocco and throughout Europe. It is truly impressive to engage the team across 2 continents! Their activities included distributing a quiz that all leaders could choose to do with their group, groups participating in fancy dress parties and picnics, the General Manager (go Martin!) cooking lasagne for the office, as well as raffle tickets sold in each region. Kat’s Intrepid group didn’t have a fancy dress party, but a ‘fancy’ picnic with a beautiful view over Florence. “We did dress in black and white on purpose. The black representing all the projects that Intrepid supports and that need help from donations. The white stands for the bright outlook into the future those projects have with our donations.” It sounds like they had a lot of fun – what a great way to spread the word in a positive manner. Intrepid Marrakech will be winning a prize!
An additional great benefit from Intrepid Foundation Day activities was the money raised to support our community organisations. The current tally of total money raised is around AU$7,600! This will be tripled by Intrepid Travel to become AU$22,800. THANK YOU!
