Answering the call of the wild
“For 10 years, The Intrepid Foundation has been supporting WSPA. On behalf of ourselves and the animals, we are so grateful for everything that you have done for us.
The support has taken many forms. Intrepid’s promotion of animal-friendly choices for travellers has made people more aware of animal welfare issues on a global scale. The joint ‘Compassionate Traveller’ initiative was an example of the partnership flourishing; a global education campaign about travellers making the best choices for animals.
Intrepid has helped support research carried out by WSPA. For example, Dr Jan Schmidt-Burbach’s research into animals in entertainment, which particularly looked at elephant welfare – from shows to rides. Intrepid helped to fund this research, and then based on its findings made the brave decision to move away from offering elephant rides in the majority of its tours.
Last year, Intrepid was a fantastic sponsor of an event to raise funds for WSPA’s bear baiting campaign in Pakistan by offering free tours as auction prizes.
It’s wonderful to have a partner like Intrepid who can have such a strong influence in helping travellers make animal-friendly choices. They certainly contribute to building a world where animal welfare matters and cruelty ends.
