As part of the third year of the ‘Stop Sex Trafficking of Children & Young People’ campaign, Intrepid Travel, Child Wise and The Body Shop ran a competition to help protect the children of Cambodia from travelling sex offenders. The winner was the person who came up with the best idea for a Child Wise billboard in Phnom Penh.

The prize is a trip for two to Cambodia and a special 9-day Intrepid adventure that will include seeing her billboard on display and meeting the Child Wise team in Phnom Penh. Thanks to everyone else who entered the competition. Child Wise are reviewing the fantastic responses and are planning to amalgamate a number of the ideas into an upcoming education campaign.
As part of this year’s campaign, 23,123 people were asked when they first heard about child sex trafficking. 56% of respondents learnt about child sex tourism at the time of being surveyed, which demonstrates the continuing need for education on how to report suspicions or concerns about child sex offenders who travel overseas to exploit children.
We include Child Wise information in the training of all Intrepid group leaders, so that they are empowered to help protect children in our destination communities and spread the word amongst Intrepid travellers.
