For the last 5 years Intrepid has been a very proud supporter of The Climate Project – helping to educate our networks and support positive actions to address the climate crisis. Through our own major efforts to reduce and offset our carbon pollution, we were very chuffed to achieve carbon neutrality in late 2010, and are continuing to take measures to manage our environmental impacts.
The Climate Reality Project (known formerly as The Climate Project), founded and chaired by Vice President Gore, is launching a new global campaign to broadcast the reality of the climate crisis and mobilize people to help solve it. The campaign kicks off with 24 Hours of Reality, a worldwide, live streamed event on September 14-15.
From Tonga to Cape Verde and Mexico City to Alaska, ’24 Hours of Reality’ will feature scientists, celebrities, business leaders and concerned individuals. It will highlight 24 locations around the world, representing 24 time zones and multiple languages. The ultimate presentation will be in New York City, presented by Vice President Gore. Anyone with an internet connection can watch the event live for free at climaterealityproject.org
The Climate Reality Project has more than 5 million members and supporters worldwide. It is guided by one simple truth: The climate crisis is real and we know how to solve it. With 9 branches and a reach in more than 50 countries, The Climate Reality Project supports more than 3,000 diverse and dedicated volunteers, (including several Intrepid employees) all personally trained by Al Gore, to present an updated version of the slide show featured in the film, An Inconvenient Truth.
The Climate Reality Project is bringing the facts about the climate crisis into the mainstream and engaging the public in conversation about how to solve it. It will help citizens around the world reject the misinformation and take meaningful steps to bring about change. The ’24 Hours of Reality’ event will feature new material connecting extreme weather events and the climate crisis.
