a fortune teller told me

great wall of chinaA good book can whisk us away from our daily grind and take us into the pages of the author’s journey. A powerful novel can also inspire our own adventures, as Giuseppe Gabusi discovered after reading A Fortune Teller Told Me

“I strongly recommend the book which made me discover Asia. It is written by Tiziano Terzani, an Italian journalist from Florence who died in 2004 after spending an entire life in Asia as correspondent of the German magazine Der Spiegel. This book, written in mid-90s, is probably his masterpiece.

In those years, Terzani decided to travel one year in Asia overland, visiting many countries and delivering us the pictures, the smell and the colours of a magic world that is slowly disappearing. Enjoyable, well-written and very funny, this best-seller changed the author’s life and acquired him a large number of admirers who have dedicated him the website www.tizianoterzani.com. Once you have started, you will not be able to stop reading it to the very end.”

If a book has inspired you to travel or simply makes for great reading while on the road, please email intrepidexpress@intrepidtravel.com – let us know a little of what it’s about, as we would love to hear your recommendation for a great backpack book!
