Days 1-2 Kathmandu

Kathmandu is like an alluring whirlwind of sights, sounds, smells and colours. Almost overwhelming, its charm and history peaks out from the most unexpected places rendering most visitors enamoured.

Days 3-5 Lhasa

Colourful, historic and with a deeply fascinating culture, the holy city of Lhasa is situated in a small valley high on the Tibetan Plateau.

Day 6 Chusul

A small town on the Yarlung Tsangpo River, the bridge at Chusul is an important link between Lhasa and Shigatse.

Day 7 Yamdrok Lake/Nagatse

Nagatse is a small town situated close to the beautiful turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake.

Day 8 Gyantse

Gyantse is an agricultural town set in the Nyang-chu Valley, famed for its wool carpets and the Pelkhor Chode Temple complex.

Days 9-10 Shigatse

Sitting at the confluence of two rivers, Shigatse is a bustling, dusty city home to some fantastic monasteries, fortresses and palaces.

Day 11 Lhatse

A popular stop on the roads to Everest and Mt Kailash, Lhatse is a modern town with several small monasteries and some historic ruins.

Day 12 Gyatso La/Shegar

Dominated by its impressive fort, Shegar is a small village not far from the stunning scenery of Gyatso-la Pass.

Day 13 Tashi Zom

Tashi Zom is a traditional village in the magnificent Rongphu Valley.

Days 14-15 Rongbuk/Everest Base Camp

The site of the world's highest monastery, Rongphu is home to around 50 monks and nuns who live and worship in this stunning location. As one of the world's big challenges, Mount Everest evokes visions of beauty, danger, awe and triumph. Standing close to this mountain is certain to leave you breathless.

Day 16 Tingri

Close to Mount Everest, Tingri is often used as a base on the way to the mountains. Needless to say, the views from this sleepy town are spectacular.

Day 17 Nyalam

With a name that means 'gateway to hell' in Tibetan, Nyalam is a fast-growing town not far from the Nepali border.

Day 18 Dhulikhel

Peaceful Dhulikhel has been an important trading route between Nepal and Tibet for centuries and has staggering views of the surrounding mountain peaks.

Days 19-20 Kathmandu

With the two sister cities of Bhaktapur and Lalitpur (Patan) close by, Kathmandu has a wealth of sights to explore, markets to discover and places to relax in.
