Buy everything from Buddhas to bangles in Kathmandu's busy markets. Walk to Durbar Square and enjoy an early-morning visit to Swayambhunath Temple.

Travel to Tibet and be awed by its rich culture and history. Steeped in legend and tradition, colourful Lhasa is Tibet's holy city. Visit Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and the Sera and Drepung monasteries.

Drive through rocky terrain, over steep passes and past beautiful lakes on the journey towards Shigatse. Stop in at Gyantse along the way and admire the complex architecture of a local monastery and Kumbum Stupa.
