Days 1-2 Hong Kong
Arrive in Hong Kong and be captivated by the city's bright lights and energetic vibe. For a little space amid the madness, head to the parks or beaches, or scale Victoria Peak for great views over HK. Indulge in a dim sum brunch or shop up a storm at Stanley Market.

Days 3-4 Zhangjiajie
Travel to Zhangjiajie, one of the most stunning locations in China. Perhaps trek the surrounding area and take in the soaring mountains, remote villages and the rustic stone bridges, not to mention the plethora of valleys, caves, gorges and streams.

Days 5-6 Fenghuang
Learn about the customs and culture of the Tujia and Miao minorities while in Fenghuang – one of China’s most well preserved ancient cities. Stroll the atmospheric streets, stopping at local diners, silver shops and historical residences.

Days 7-10 Yangzi River
Learn some traditional Chinese card games on a scenic train ride through the countryside. Experience everyday Chinese life in Yichang and visit the hydroelectric dam project. Embark on a relaxing boat trip through the panoramic delights of the Three Gorges.

Days 11-12 Chengdu
Travel to Chengdu, the capital of the Sichuan province, with its spicy cuisine, countless artisans and lively atmosphere. Take a walk around the city, stopping to admire the giant Mao Zedong statue in Culture Square. Perhaps take a cooking class, pass through Wenshu Temple to mingle with worshippers or experience the passion and drama of a Sichuan Opera.

Welcome to Shanghai, one of the world's more fascinating cities. Perhaps wander the Bund, jostle through the Yuyuan Bazaar or peruse ancient treasures in the Shanghai Museum. Enjoy an energetic acrobatic show on the last night, a fitting finale to this Chinese adventure.

Day 16 Water Town
Get a taste of traditional China on a day trip to a ornate water town. Chill out by the canals, sip steaming cups of tea at a local teahouse or learn about local history at one of the many museums. Get lost among the maze of peaceful cobblestone streets lined with village buildings - a nice break from the chaos of modern Shanghai. While here, gliding along the waterways in a gondola is the ideal way to enjoy a real water town experience

Days 17-19 Xi'an
Hop aboard an overnight train to Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province and the beginning of the ancient Silk Road. Explore this vibrant, modern city that is bursting with some of China’s most famous cultural and historical attractions. Come face-to-face with the imposing Terracotta Warriors, a stoic army set out in battle formation and complete with horses and chariots. Learn about this incredible archaeological site before making a lunch stop at Huiling - an Intrepid Foundation-supported project that assists people in the local community who have intellectual disabilities.

Days 20-22 Beijing
Arrive in Beijing and become immersed in a city of culture, modernity and chaos. Spend time visiting Tiananmen Square - the largest city square in the world - and the Forbidden City, an oasis of gardens and courtyards in the heart of an urban jungle. Before the tour wraps up, spend a day ambling along the ancient stone pathways and bell towers that make up the spectacular Great Wall of China.
